Traveling this summer? Better make sure you’re fit for the trip! After all, the last thing you want is to end up unwell during your long-planned holiday. We’ve rounded up six handy reminders for staying healthy while on the go.
Wash your hands often, for 20 seconds.
If we could track how many times the ‘Happy Birthday’ song is being sung these days, it would be topping the charts. 20 seconds (the length of the song) is the minimum time you should be washing your hands. Do it whenever you can!
Always pack disinfectants.
You never know who’s touched that doorknob or whose hands have been on that railing, so be sure to clean up often! Carry rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizer in your bag so you can disinfect regularly. Avoid touching your face too!
Boost your immune system.
Your body’s shields have to be up as you get around. Take your multivitamins regularly so you can boost your immune system. Healthy juices like orange juice are also packed with vitamin C that can help keep your body at its best.
Now (more than ever) is the time to go green. Pile those veggies on your plate because studies have shown greens help increase your antibody response. This fights infections and other unwanted germs that hijack your system and make you sick.
Save the Netflix bingeing for tomorrow and get those eight hours of sleep. You’re gonna need them. Staying up late makes you more likely to get sick when you’re exposed to a virus. You don’t want to catch a cold and have it turn into something more serious, so call it a day early enough for you to get ample rest.
Getting sick while you’re traveling is enough of its own headache, so do everything you can to get coverage. Having insurance that covers sicknesses that you can catch while traveling (especially more serious ones) at least puts you a little more at ease. Hopefully you won’t need it though!
A responsible traveler puts safety first, so be sure you take all the necessary precautions as you plan your trips!
