<h1>EcoConserve Program</h1>
<p>Discovery Resorts launched the EcoConserve program, which covers all environment-friendly practices that have been incorporated into the daily aspects of both resorts&rsquo; operations to help lessen the property&rsquo;s ecological impacts. This includes the replacement of plastic straws, the use of refillable pumps for amenities, and the installation of a sustainable drinking water system.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>From small practices to bigger and more long-term applications, Discovery Boracay and Discovery Coron are committed to finding ways to better care for the environment.</p>

<h1>Ecobrick Project</h1>
<p style="text-align: left;">As part of Discovery Resort's commitment to reducing plastic waste, they have launched a multi-department initiative to repurpose discarded plastics into ecobricks&mdash;building materials used to create plant boxes, tables, and chairs for community projects.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">In this project, employees in our resorts were taught how to properly pack clean and dry used plastics into PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles to achieve a target density, and turn them into a basic building block unit. These units were used to build plant terraces and a Vermi house (for African Night Crawlers) in Discovery Coron's Taranuman Farm. The eco-bricks were also used to construct plant holders, tables and chairs which were donated to nearby schools.</p>

<h1>Sustainable, Farm-to-Table Dishes</h1>
<p style="text-align: left;">Discovery Boracay has partnered with the local residents of Barangay Sambiray in Malay, Aklan, to develop the Taramnan Farm. This initiative reflects the resort's commitment not only to offering fresh, high-quality ingredients in their restaurants, but also to supporting the community and promoting sustainable farming practices.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">A standout feature of <a href="../../../dining/coron-restaurant">Firefish Restaurant</a> at Discovery Coron is its connection to Taranuman, the resort's private farm. Taranuman plays a crucial role in the restaurant&rsquo;s operations by providing a steady supply of fresh herbs and vegetables. By utilizing produce that is grown on-site, Firefish Restaurant is able to offer a truly farm-to-table dining experience, where guests can indulge in the vibrant flavors of freshly harvested ingredients.</p>

<h1>Reducing Plastic Waste</h1>
<p style="text-align: left;">As part of our steadfast commitment to combating water pollution and addressing the alarming decline in marine life, our city hotels have taken proactive steps to reduce plastic waste. Discovery Suites has phased out plastic straws from all <a href="../../../restaurants">dining establishments</a> and banquet functions. In their place, metal straws are now being offered for special beverages such as shakes and smoothies.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Moreover, our properties have eliminated single-use PET bottles from our operations and switched to glass bottles that are sterilized before and after every use. Cloth laundry bags were also introduced to replace the plastic ones found in guest rooms. Alongside this, bath amenities are now offered in refillable pumps, making the guest experience more sustainable without compromising on convenience. Together, these changes reflect our dedication to preserving the environment and creating an eco-conscious stay for all our guests.</p>
